Left school. I had my first part time job, at a darts company, sticking the points in darts, bagging up flights, darts to be sold at retailers. All the while the radio was on (Radio 1) and I rate this as the year I got into music properly.

Perspective is all.
Ayatollah - known as the '79 Revolution but largely occurred in '78. I was in Washington when the fuckers were demonstrating outside The White House. Although they appear the forces of darkness now, it was no picnic under the Shah either, unless you were middle class.
'79 election; . All the cool people like me were in Anti-Nazi League fighting (or pretending to fight) the National Front. Little did we know we were forerunner to SWP and that fucker Corbyn.

Re: 1979

I was living in Bromley back then and knew an Iranian bloke who claimed to be related to the Shah, which was why he had to leave Iran. He was working in a burger shop, which seemed a bit odd for a relative of the Shah, but he had enough money to buy a house - he was paranoid that the Revolutionary Guard were after him and painted all his windows black so nobody could see him.... except when he was working at the burger shop on the High Street.

"Apocalypse Now"
Too young to see at cinema. But remains one of the greatest films ever made. Insane genius. I must have watched it 50+ times. Despite it being a disturbing portrait of humanity's madness.
"Highway To Hell". AC/DC.
Did get that one with pocket money. My parents were appalled.
Thatcher. Bastard. She'd go on to wreck Britain.
Wasn't a cheery year, on reflection. But I s'pose I was happy playing football down the park.
